PTGAH  PROGRAMS FOR 2008

February 21   -  Russian General Store,   9629 Hillcroft, Houston, 77096.   Explore the general store where Houstonian’s of Russian descent find items unique to their culture.    Afterwards, we’ll get together at Russian Bear Restaurant, 1801 S. Dairy Ashford, Houston 77077, 281-496-4148. 

  March 20  -   Discovery Green and The Grove Restaurant.   This evening we will explore Houston’s newest park in the shadow of the George Brown Convention Center and learn how it is environmental friendly.    A visit to The Grove Restaurant, one of two restaurants adjacent to Discovery Green, will conclude our evening.  

  April 17 – Our focus this month is on Texas History and Richard Cook will enlighten us with some facts and stories of our outstanding state.  San Jacinto Battleground and Battleship Texas with a diner at the Monument Inn, Lynchburg, TX

May 15 – .  May general meeting will be held at Dixie Friend Gay’s home and studio at 1901 West 14th St. in the Heights. She will give us a guided tour of her home, studio and gardens.   June 19 -   The grounds of the Menil Museum.   This is your opportunity to learn about the surroundings of the Menil Museum.  Tour will be conducted by Andrew Groocock.

 July 17 – NASA – Johnson Space Center -  This month we will tour the most popular tourist destination in Houston and see the changes that have been made recently and gain insight on conducting a tour of the facility.  Coordinator:  Richard Cook

August 21 – Houston’s Baseball History – Finger’s Furniture of IH-45 So.   Get together afterwards at Doneraki in Gulfgate Shopping Center.   Coordinator:  Joe DeSola and Ronn Canon

September 18 -  Symposium:  Working in the Travel & Tourism Industry.  Stumpf Board Room, light refreshments served.   Coordinator:  Sandra Lord

October 16 – Dunham Bible Museum, Museum of Southern History and the Decorative Arts Museum at Houston Baptist University.  Coordinator:  Bob Zurik

  November 20 – Business Meeting, Nominating Committee Report.   Pot Luck Thanksgiving Dinner.   Location TBA.

       December 18 – Holiday Celebration at the Bye Residence.  Coordinators:  Jerry & Sara Bye.

January 15 – Annual Meeting, Installation of New Officers.  Stumpf Board Room
